Local Schema Builder
Copy LocalBusiness schema markup for a listing, written from its Google Business Profile, and add it to your own website.
The Local Schema Builder writes LocalBusiness schema markup for a listing. Schema markup is a block of code on your website that tells search engines your business's name, address, phone, hours and location in a form they can read. DigitPeak writes it from your Google listing, so your website and your listing say the same thing.
Use it for a website you run yourself. The free site from the Website Builder already carries this markup, so you do not need to add it there.
#Before you begin
- The listing must be in DigitPeak. See Add a listing.
- You need to be able to edit the
<head>of your website's homepage, or have a plugin that can.
#Get the code
- Open Local Schema Builder in the menu.
- Click the listing.
- On the LocalBusiness schema card, click Copy.
The code is a <script type="application/ld+json"> block. It costs no credits.
If a field the markup would use is missing from your Google listing, a line above the code names it, for example Not on your Google listing: postcode, opening hours. Add them to your Google Business Profile, then copy the code again.
#Add it to your website
- Copy the code.
- Paste it inside the
<head>of your homepage. On WordPress, a header scripts plugin does this without touching the theme. - Check it with Google's Rich Results Test.
- When your hours, phone or address change on Google, copy the code again and replace the old block. The code on your website does not update itself.

A field your Google listing does not have is left out.
#How hours are written
- A business open all day is written as opening at
00:00and closing at23:59, which is how Google's own guidance says to mark it. - A day the business is closed is left out. In schema markup, a day that is not listed is a day the business is not open.
#What it leaves out
- Star rating. Google does not show review stars that a business marks up about itself on its own site.
- A more specific type. The type is always
LocalBusiness. - Google's photos. Only your own photos on an DigitPeak site are used.
