Reports

Make a client report for one listing over a week, month, year or dates you pick, choose what it shows, and send it as a link or a PDF.

Reports turns what DigitPeak already holds about a listing into a report you can send to a client: map rankings, reviews, profile score, citations and competitors for one period. You can make a report by hand or have DigitPeak make one on a schedule. Each report can be trimmed section by section, given a note from your team, and shared as a link or saved as a PDF.

#Before you begin

  • You need a listing in DigitPeak. See Add a listing.
  • The Keywords and Competitors sections need at least one map scan. See Map Rank Tracker.
  • To make, change, share or delete reports you need the Owner or Editor role. A Viewer can open reports and download the PDF. See People and roles.

#Make a report now

  1. Open Reports in the menu and click the listing.
  2. Click Create report now.
  3. Under Date range, pick Last week, Last month or Last year. The dates it covers show below the choice.
  4. To pick your own dates instead, choose Custom, or click the start or end date. Click the first day, then the last day, in the calendar.
  5. Click Create report.

The new report appears at the top of the Reports list. Making a report uses no credits. A listing keeps its latest 120 reports; beyond that, the oldest is removed.

The preset ranges are whole periods: last week is Monday to Sunday, last month is the whole calendar month before this one, and last year is 1 January to 31 December of the year before. A custom range can only cover days that have already passed, and at most three years.

A figure does not change once it is in a report: a report about September says the same thing in November. Only what it shows, its text and its settings can change later.

#Edit a report

Click a report's period in the list to open it. The left side has two tabs, Sections and Settings. The right side is a Preview of the report exactly as the link and the PDF show it.

There is no Save button. A switch or chip saves when you click it. A typed box saves a moment after you stop typing, and the preview reloads.

#Sections

The sections appear in the report in this order. Each has a switch that takes the whole section in or out.

SectionWhat it shows
StatisticsCustomer calls, Direction requests, Profile views and Website visits from Performance, any figures you type, then Competitors outranked and Profile score (see below).
Insight from the teamYour own note to the client, shown after Statistics.
Next stepsWhat your team will do next, shown after the insight.
KeywordsEach tracked keyword with its Average position, Business visibility, Area difficulty and change, and two maps side by side: an earlier scan and the latest scan.
ReviewsHow many reviews came in, how many gave each number of stars, the Google rating, and up to three of the latest five-star reviews with text.
ContentPosts published, Photos published, Review replies and Reviews received.
Top search termsFor a report that covers one calendar month: the month's top searches, with how many searches each had.
CitationsThe directory listings saved in Listing Management, with the ones added in this period marked.
CompetitorsUp to five businesses that show most on the map grid, with their position and rating, and the reviews they gained.

In Keywords, the dates under the maps say which two scans are compared: the latest scan up to the end of the period, and one from about a month before it. A position beyond 20 reads Not in the top 20.

In Statistics, the chips Competitors outranked and Profile score take those two figures in or out. In Keywords, click a keyword to leave it out, and drag keywords to change their order. In Content, the chip Reviews received takes that figure in or out.

Insight from the team and Next steps each hold up to 2,000 characters.

#Counted figures and typed figures

Some figures DigitPeak counts itself. Type the others in from your Google Business Profile.

FigureWhere it comes from
Customer calls, Direction requests, Profile views, Website visits, Chat clicks, Bookings, MenuTaken from Google for the period on a connected listing, and they replace anything typed there. A Menu of 0 is left out. For a listing that is not connected, you type them in Statistics.
OverviewTyped by you, in Statistics.
Posts publishedTyped by you, in Content.
Photos publishedCounted. How much the listing's photo count went up in the period.
Review repliesCounted. Replies shown on Google and dated in the period.
Reviews receivedCounted. Reviews written on Google in the period.
Competitors outrankedCounted. How many businesses on the map grid have a worse average position than this one in the latest scan.
Profile scoreThe GBP Optimization score at the end of the period, with its change since the start.

A figure a report takes from Google does not change once it is in the report. A typed figure you leave empty is left out of the report. It is never shown as 0. Typed figures are whole numbers from 0 to 10,000,000; you can write 1,500 or 1.500 for fifteen hundred.

#Settings

  • Progress only: shows only what moved the right way, such as keywords that went up, new reviews and new citations. Anything that stayed the same or dropped is left out, and so is the Competitors section. It never changes a number.
  • Educational content: adds a "What do you see here?" box under each section that says what it measures.
  • Logo: shows the listing's logo on the report's cover. It is the same logo the listing's website uses. You can upload one here with Upload logo (PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG).
  • Map style: Standard, Light, Muted or Dark for the map behind each keyword's pins. The pins keep their colours.
  • Powered by DigitPeak: turn it off to leave DigitPeak's name and mark off the report, so it goes out under your name only.
  • Language: the language of the headings, figures and explanations. There are 16 to choose from. Your insight, your next steps and quoted reviews stay as they were written.

The sections, settings, insight and next steps you leave on a report become the starting point for the listing's next report. Typed figures are not carried over.

#Top search terms

A report for a connected listing that covers one calendar month can list that month's top search terms, with how many searches each had. A term few people used shows as Under 15. The section has its own switch in the editor and is not shown on a report that covers other dates.

#Share a report

  1. Open the report.
  2. Click Share link. The link is copied to your clipboard.

Anyone with the link can open the report without signing in. Search engines are told not to index it. The link always shows the report as it is now, so edits you make after sharing show on the link too.

The Link button in the reports list does the same thing. Once a report is shared, it carries a Shared badge, and the button in the report reads Copy link.

To stop sharing, open the report and click Stop sharing. The link stops working at once. Sharing again gives a new link.

Cannot be undone: deleting a report removes it and stops its share link.

#Save a PDF

  1. Click PDF on the report's row, or at the top of an open report.
  2. The report opens in a new tab with your browser's print dialog.
  3. Choose Save as PDF as the printer, and save.

The PDF is A4, with a cover page and the page number at the foot of each page.

#Make reports on a schedule

  1. Open Reports and click the listing.
  2. Turn on the switch in Auto reports. The Auto reports dialog opens.
  3. Under Date range, pick Week, Month or Year: the period each report covers.
  4. Under Frequency, pick Every first or last day of the week or month.
  5. Leave Make reports on this schedule on. The line beside it shows the date of the next report.
  6. For a monthly schedule, decide whether to keep Scan the map before each report on (see below).
  7. Click Save changes.

To change the schedule later, click Change. To stop it, turn off the switch in Auto reports. Reports made on the schedule carry an Auto badge in the list.

#Which period an auto report covers

The first day of the week is Monday and the last is Sunday. The first day of the month is the 1st; the last is the month's final day.

When it is madeWhat it covers
On the first dayThe whole week, month or year before. A report made on 1 October with the range Month covers 1 to 30 September.
On the last day, when that day ends the chosen rangeThe period ending that day. A report made on 30 September with the range Month covers 1 to 30 September.
On the last day, when that day does not end the chosen rangeThe whole period before, made once. For example, a weekly Sunday report with the range Month covers the previous month, on the first Sunday that comes after it.

DigitPeak never makes two auto reports for the same dates. If you switch from the last day to the first, the period already reported is not reported again.

#The map scan before a monthly report

When the schedule runs on the first or last day of the month, Scan the map before each report is on unless you turn it off. On report day, the listing's Map Rank Tracker keywords are scanned first and the report uses that scan, even if the tracker's own schedule scanned the day before.

Costs credits: this scan uses the listing's credits at the scheduled rate: 1 credit per search, where each keyword at each grid point is one search. The dialog shows the cost as "About N credits a month". It comes on top of any scans the Map Rank Tracker's own schedule makes. See Credits.

If the scan does not run, the report is still made on report day with the latest scan there is, and the Auto reports card shows "The last map scan did not run."

With the switch off, the report uses the latest scan there is and costs nothing. Weekly schedules never scan.
